Senior Accountant - GL Focus
Location: Tulsa, OK - W. 7th St. - Hybrid schedule
About the role
As a Senior Accountant at Airgas, you will be a cornerstone of our Controller organization, driving business success through expert financial oversight and strategic reporting. This is a high-impact role where your expertise in general accounting, analytical research, and complex reconciliations will directly influence our operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex general ledger account analysis, reconciliations, and reporting, including payroll and A/R.
- Lead accounting projects and provide guidance to staff accountants.
- Drive month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries and financial statement review.
- Collaborate with Central Division regions to resolve financial inquiries and document issues.
- Prepare detailed internal reports for Division and Corporate management.
- Fulfill audit requests and review staff accountant work for completeness.
- Maintain internal accounting controls and ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of three years financial accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
Qualifications
- Public accounting experience and exposure to medium-to-large companies.
- Strong understanding of general accounting matters and IFRS/GAAP.
- Strong "client service" mindset and ability to work well with internal customers and external parties.
- Capable of prioritizing responsibilities on a daily basis to meet required deadlines.
- Customer-focused behavior, including building positive relationships and striving to understand customer needs.
- Ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically and professionally.
- Exceptionally strong analytical skills through critical thinking and creative problem-solving.
- Advanced computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Excel).
- Experience with SAP and/or ERP systems is a plus.
