About the Role

This senior-level professional accounting position is responsible for a variety of tasks including administrative banking, coordination with regulatory agencies and auditors, maintaining accounting records, financial reporting, and clinic accounting. The role involves working closely with managers and directors on accounting, budget, and other financial issues, performing business analysis, project management, and mentoring other accounting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, subsidiary ledgers, and reconciliations in a timely, thorough manner.
  • Coordinate with the Controller to close the books monthly accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain all ledgers, journals, and other accounting records according to GAAP, governing laws, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers and supporting documentation.
  • File all ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation in a complete, timely, and confidential manner.
  • Prepare monthly and as-needed financial and statistical reports accurately and thoroughly.
  • Prepare financial analyses as directed by the CFO and Controller.
  • Coordinate with the Controller to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead Accounting staff to prepare cost reports, budgets, and other financial documents.
  • Process month-end reports in the physician practice management system.
  • Prepare detailed accounting and analysis of revenue, contractual adjustments, bad debt reserve, cash posting, and physician compensation.
  • Calculate physician compensation based on contractual agreements and prepare productivity reports.
  • Coordinate with banks to ensure timely and accurate processing of wires, ACHs, etc.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies regarding compliance and special projects/reporting.
  • Coordinate with accounting software vendors to set up and maintain accounting systems.
  • Lead special projects such as preparation/filing of 1099s, Medicare cost reports, annual tax returns, and property evaluation.
  • Work cooperatively with outside auditors and accountants.
  • Assist Accounting staff with physical inventory count and valuation.
  • Assist with timely processing of accounts payable and payroll.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field, or equivalent professional-level experience.
  • CPA or eligibility for certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an accountant or financial analyst; healthcare industry experience preferred.

Schedule

Forty hours per week, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary occasionally to meet accounting and project deadlines.
