About the role
This position is a member of the Corporate Accounting team and will assist in financial reporting activities including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reporting packages, coordination of external audits and tax-related engagements, accounting for employee benefits plans, and technical accounting research. This role will report directly to the Manager - Financial Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements including footnote disclosures, supporting schedules, roll-forwards, and reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement variance analyses and prepare comprehensive review packages for management.
- Assist in research and analysis of new and existing Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidance. Perform qualitative and quantitative evaluations and prepare written documentation, such as policy or guidance memos, to interpret and communicate accounting positions.
- Coordinate and assist in the preparation and review of deliverables for external audits of annual financial statements, employee benefit plans, and external entities for which the Company serves as operator.
- Assist in coordination of engagements related to corporate income tax matters.
- Perform accounting functions for employee benefits plans.
- Collaborate and provide general support across departments on financial reporting and accounting matters.
- Examine selected monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper classification, and adequate review. Prepare a summary of findings on a monthly basis.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of government census reports.
- Complete special projects and prepare ad-hoc analyses as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - Accounting
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Industry Experience - Accounting and/or Financial Reporting experience, Public Accounting experience strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Preferred - CPA or CPA in progress
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interest and experience working with US GAAP reporting requirements
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of basic and intermediate accounting principles.
- Ability to perform technical research on accounting topics and advocate accounting positions.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-starter who can work with a high degree of autonomy as well as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and effectively manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
- Skilled in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
