Senior Accountant, AWS Technology Infrastructure

This role is part of Amazon’s accounting group, with opportunities in Legal Entity & Intercompany, Accounting Policy & Reporting, Operations and Capital, Transportation, Payments & Merchant Services, Retail Operations, Digital, and AWS Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Support AWS Data Center accounting and reporting processes.
- Own the end-to-end process for Capex and Opex to support finance and business partners.
- Understand internal control design concepts to assess and improve control effectiveness, including designing new processes and controls for emerging business activities.
- Exercise judgment to keep projects moving and ensure timely decision-making for monthly book closures.
- Escalate risks and issues to leadership as necessary.
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change.
- Lead the delivery of accounting tasks and projects.
- Enhance partnerships between Accounting and various business and IT groups.
- Research, conclude, and document technical accounting position papers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in finance or a related analytical field.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
Qualifications
- CPA certification.
- 2+ years of Fortune 500 operational accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification.
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients.
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency.
- Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions.
Pay
The base salary range for this position varies by location:
- USA, CA, Culver City: $72,600 - $117,100 USD annually
- USA, MA, Boston: $66,900 - $117,100 USD annually
- USA, OR, Portland: $66,900 - $117,100 USD annually
- USA, TN, Nashville: $60,200 - $105,400 USD annually
- USA, TX, Austin: $66,900 - $117,100 USD annually
- USA, VA, Arlington: $66,900 - $117,100 USD annually
- USA, WA, Seattle: $82,700 - $117,100 USD annually
Your compensation package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
