About the role
We are seeking an experienced senior accountant with a strong focus on automation and digital tools to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices, combined with a passion for leveraging technology to streamline processes and improve efficiency. This individual supports the team financial reporting and accounting close topics.
Responsibilities
- Reporting and Financial Statement preparation: Assist in the preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and annual financial reporting, including Balance Sheet, P&L, statutory notes, and key certifications.
- Digital Projects: Drive strategic and cross-functional projects by identifying digitalization opportunities, implementing technology-enabled process improvements, and strengthening team capability in leveraging modern tools.
- Operational Improvement: Facilitate workshops on digital tools while documenting processes to enhance clarity, consistency, and continuous improvement across financial operations.
- Financial Controls: Enhance governance and financial controls by improving account reconciliations, supporting journal entry preparation, and contributing to compliance with central accounting requirements (AP, ICC, and other global topics).
- External Audit Liaison: Collaborate as a key partner with external auditors, preparing SAP-based reporting packages and supporting documentation to ensure smooth and efficient quarterly and annual audit cycles.
- Planning and Valuation: Support planning, valuation, and investment-related reporting, including long-range plan consolidation and analytics-driven work supporting CGU and goodwill assessments.
Requirements
- A university degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field; CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to both reporting and digital/automation initiatives (Big 4 or public accounting experience considered an asset).
- Strong proficiency in SAP and advanced MS Office, with hands-on experience using data analytics or visualization tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Proven ability to take initiative and independently drive complex projects and process improvements, including leveraging automation to enhance financial workflows and challenge existing practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
