Responsibilities
- Record and review journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other general ledger activity to keep financial records accurate and current.
- Contribute to monthly and annual close activities by preparing adjustments, reconciling accounts, and helping finalize reporting schedules on time.
- Complete detailed balance sheet reconciliations for major accounts such as cash, receivables, payables, and capital assets, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Support the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports by validating data, organizing schedules, and ensuring consistency with accounting standards.
- Assemble audit-ready documentation and respond to requests from internal and external auditors by providing clear support for account activity and balances.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting by tracking capital purchases, calculating depreciation, and processing retirements or disposals accurately.
- Investigate fluctuations in account balances, explain notable trends, and assist with comparisons between budgeted and actual results.
- Monitor adherence to internal accounting procedures, identify control gaps, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen financial operations.
- Assist with tax-related and regulatory reporting requirements, including preparation of supporting information for applicable filings.
- Participate in special analyses and other accounting projects requested by leadership to support business needs and process efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with general ledger accounting, account analysis, and financial statement support.
- Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close responsibilities and complete reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including formulas, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of core accounting principles, internal controls, and standard financial reporting practices.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with bank reconciliations; manufacturing or production environment exposure is helpful.
