Ridgeview is a not-for-profit hospital and community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, TN, providing a wide range of outpatient programs and services across a six-county region (Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane, Scott, and Fentress). We operate a 16-bed Joint Commission-accredited adult inpatient unit at our main center and receive funding from Medicare, Medicaid/TennCare, commercial insurance, and federal, state, and local sources. About the role

This is a new full-time position supporting the Director of Accounting, with an initial focus on grant management. The Senior Accountant will ensure the integrity of accounting records, prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, and manage numerous grants with varying requirements in collaboration with the accounting team. The role also includes backing up the Controller as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintains the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
  • Completes external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
  • Organizes financial information in secure electronic folders.
  • Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with an accounting concentration.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferably in a hospital or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel.
