Senior Accountant
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant assists with the month end close process and ensures transactions are recorded in the proper period. They also serve as a resource for the corporate accounting team on challenging accounting tasks.
Essential Functions
Work in a manner that meets budgeted costs and constraints of the accounting department.
Achieve Company's performance toward achieving its goals.
Participate in the planning and execution of the month end close process and seek continuous improvement in processes and quality of work.
Create and maintain methods, models, and workflows for shared expense allocation based on established metrics.
Complete required account reconciliations and expense analyses.
Review preliminary statements and investigate unusual fluctuations and unexpected activity.
Prepare monthly internal management reports.
Maintain and improve reporting as needed to meet management requests.
Respond to requests from external auditors by completing support schedules and providing detail as requested.
Draft and update accounting policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines as requested by management, focusing on improving processes through automation.
Conduct special projects and other services at the request of management, including financial analysis and accounting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, with an accounting or finance major.
3 to 5 years related accounting experience preferred.
CPA is a plus.
Proficient in various software packages including, but not limited to, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office.
Strong Excel proficiency such as pivot tables, lookups, and formula creation required.
Experienced in using accounting enterprise software. Yardi experience a plus.
Property Management experience a plus.
Experience in using data from different sources to identify issues and quickly identify the central or underlying issues in a complex situation.
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
Proven self-starter with ability to work independently.
