Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the monthly financial close process, including reviewing, analyzing, and distributing internal and external financial information.
  • Value outpatient accounts receivable to NRV using payor-specific reimbursement rates.
  • Prepare and maintain AR-related analyses.
  • Review monthly transactions for unusual trends, resolve exceptions, and correct errors.
  • Assist supervisor/manager in preparing variance explanations.
  • Create and maintain a database of monthly ad-hoc data to support detailed review and analysis of collection rates and revenue trends.
  • Assist in the annual net patient service revenue and statistical budget process.
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual external audit process, including preparation of workpapers, flux schedules, and other analyses.
  • Perform monthly journal entries and account analyses in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support special projects as required.
  • Resolve problems related to standard financial issues and practices.
  • Daily reconcile deposits from the cash system to the general ledger and cash clearing to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile consolidated hospital AR, bad debt, and NPR schedules.
  • Monthly reconcile other patient accounts receivable.
  • Address issues as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • At least 2 years of general accounting or related experience is required.
  • A CPA certification is preferred.
