Responsibilities

• Preparing financial statements and reporting.
• Overseeing routine department activities, such as disbursing checks and processing payroll.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of cost-effective policies and procedures for all accounting and financial controls.
• Leading the execution of month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reviewing and reconciling all general ledger accounts and ensuring that all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Assisting with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and reporting variances.
• Ensuring compliance with state and federal government contract requirements and tax filings.
• Working with the financial team to improve financial procedures.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting in a government contracting environment.
• Proficient in accounting software, specifically Netsuite or a related ERP.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Reporting, and government regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
• Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work with minimal supervision.
