About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our client's team. This is a permanent position that offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and innovative team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating the financial activities of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Coordinate semi-annual audits and assist CFO with conducting audits
  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance
  • Adhere to FASB standards to maintain financial security of the organization
  • Analyze financial reports and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries
  • Assist with the month-end closing process, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all tasks
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to meet internal and external financial reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to support overall department goals and objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, including FASB regulations and GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in the scientific industry is a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for accounting
