Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
- Coordinate and execute the month-end and year-end close process
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
- Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies for the set up
- Perform regular, detailed audits to ensure accuracy in financial documents, expenditures, and investments
- Forecasting and budgeting of operational costs
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including cash receipts and expenditure, accounts payable and receivable, cash forecasting, and revenue and expenditure variance analysis
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure timely and accurate compliance
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
- Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close process, including revenue recognition, expense review, variance analysis, and account reconciliations
- Oversee and manage all general ledger activity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field
- Proven experience as a senior accountant with a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of audit and internal controls, vendor management, and contract management
- Experience with multiple entities and subsidiary ledgers
- Demonstrated ability to improve and streamline processes to increase efficiency and improve results
