Senior Accountant
Job Details
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Ensure compliance with all internal processes.
- Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Oversee financial transactions and processing.
- Audit work to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations.
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior accounting role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and General Ledger (GL) functions and procedures.
- Solid experience in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in advanced Excel functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to supervise and lead a team.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound judgement calls.
- Experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
