About the role

Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a highly motivated, curious, and analytical Senior Accountant to join the Studios Accounting team in Culver City, California. Amazon MGM Studios is home to award-winning television series and original films. The Business Controllership team is responsible for managing revenue operations, accounts receivable, and various accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining variances, and delivering meaningful financial reporting to management
• Build trust and credibility with senior leadership through clear, concise communication
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Production, Tax, Sales, to ensure alignment and effective information flow
• Review licensing agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606, and process agreements through the rights management system
• Manage client royalty statement processing to the general ledger to record revenue and AR
• Ensure accurate processing of Accounts Receivable functions such as billing, collections, and cash application
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls and audits
• Evaluate existing processes and recommend, develop, and drive improvements to increase efficiency and scalability

Qualifications

• 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• Experience operating in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Effective verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA
• Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
• Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions
• Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $72,600.00 - $117,100.00 USD annually in Culver City, CA, with variations in other locations. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
