Senior Account Executive, Tech & Start Up
About the Agency
Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis is a leading global communications agency built to navigate the complexities of a hyper-connected world. We represent the icons and innovators shaping culture—from global heritage corporations and high-growth tech startups to the non-profits, creative legends, and visionary founders who define the global discourse. Our expertise spans the full cultural spectrum, operating at the intersection of entertainment, social impact, corporate reputation, and consumer lifestyle. We execute seamlessly across traditional media, social-first outlets, brand partnerships, and influencer ecosystems.
Whether navigating complex crisis management, elevating advocacy campaigns, or launching global consumer brands, we are storytellers at our core. While our clients are global household names, we believe the best work happens when the spotlight stays firmly on those we represent. We fly under the radar by design—preferring to let our campaigns and results speak for themselves.
About the Role
Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis has an opening for a strategic, high-performing Senior Account Executive to join our Tech & Startup practice. This role is for professionals with 4-5 years of experience who are ready to transition from executing tasks to owning workstreams. You are a media-savvy strategist who understands that in 2026, a great tech story must live across traditional trades, social feeds, and creator platforms. If you’re tech-obsessed—with a browser permanently rotating between TechCrunch, WIRED, and Fast Company—and have a point of view on which startups are built to last, this role is for you.
We seek a Senior Account Executive who can manage the backend of an account with military precision while leading the frontend of a media pitch or high-stakes event.
Responsibilities
- Media Lead: Leverage an established network of contacts to secure high-impact features and product reviews that move the needle for our clients.
- Integrated Execution: Architect and execute 360-degree communications strategies that weave together traditional media relations, social media content, and creator/influencer partnerships.
- Account Stewardship: Own the day-to-day workstreams for a roster of 4-6 clients. Act as the "glue" of the account—ensuring deliverables are met, junior staff is on track, and senior management is briefed.
- Content Command: Produce sophisticated, client-ready materials including messaging frameworks, press releases, executive briefing notes, and high-conversion media pitches.
- Event & Project Management: Lead the execution of media-specific events (dinners, press conferences, influencer launches). Manage credentials and on-site logistics while ensuring the big-picture strategy is realized.
- Mentorship in Action: Mentor junior colleagues, teaching them the "how" and "why" of PR—from drafting the perfect pitch to managing a complex budget tracker.
- Business IQ: Participate in new business brainstorms and help craft proposals. Stay ahead of tech trends, venture capital shifts, and platform algorithms to provide real-time value to clients.
- Relationship Driven: Lead by example in how you treat your team, clients, and the press—building the long-term trust that defines our agency.
Requirements
- Tech Expert: 4-5 years of PR experience with a focus on technology, B2B, or high-growth startups.
- An Integrated Storyteller: Understand the modern communications landscape and know how to bridge the gap between a Wall Street Journal feature and a viral TikTok moment.
- Strategic & Decisive: Bring new ideas to the table unprompted and have the decision-making ability to own your projects.
- High EQ: Possess high emotional intelligence and situational awareness. Know when to command a meeting and when to step back to support your team.
- Exceptionally Organized: Master the "backend"—agendas, recaps, and budget trackers are second nature to you.
- Driven to Over-Deliver: Take pride in exceeding expectations and have an entrepreneurial spirit that pushes you to make every process and pitch better.
