About the role

The Senior Sales Account Executive generates advertising revenue by calling on established agencies, cold-calling new prospects and demonstrating to potential clients of the merits of television and digital advertising on WFXR/WWCW/WFXRtv.com and Nexstar Digital platforms. We serve Roanoke, Lynchburg, the New River Valley and surrounding counties.

Responsibilities

  • Generates advertising revenue by calling on established agencies, cold-calling new prospects and demonstrating to potential clients of the merits of television and digital advertising on WFXR/WWCW/WFXRtv.com and Nexstar Digital platforms.
  • Visits local businesses, finds out what makes them unique, and helps craft creative plans to share that information with our audience to help their businesses grow and thrive.
  • Implements strategies to consistently grow revenue and exceed revenue goals.
  • Establishes credible relationships with local business community.
  • Possesses the ability to prospect, qualify, close, and grow new business.
  • Makes sales calls on existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintains assigned accounts and develops new accounts.
  • Prepares and delivers sales presentations to clients.
  • Continues to learn and implement new strategies and products.
  • Explains to customers how specific types of advertising will help promote their products or services in the most effective way possible.
  • Be an advocate for our products and programs.
  • Provides clients with information regarding rates for advertising placement in all media.
  • Develops advertising schedules with clients and station personnel responsible for placing advertising into station media.
  • Works with creative services in the production of client’s creative elements for both broadcast and digital advertising campaigns.
  • Responsible for order entry, contracts, follow-up, and collections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in media or digital sales.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience achieving long-range objectives and implementing the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing basics (Google/Facebook, etc.) preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and basic office equipment required.
