About the Role

The Senior Academic Affairs Analyst is a member of the School of Medicine's Academic Personnel team and provides comprehensive academic personnel support and consultation to faculty, department leadership, and academic administrators. The position independently manages and advises on complex academic appointments, reviews, recruitments, compensation matters, faculty dossiers, visa-related employment issues, and Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP) activities.

The incumbent interprets and applies University, campus, School of Medicine, and collective bargaining policies; counsels faculty and academic leadership; identifies and resolves compliance or procedural issues; and coordinates academic personnel actions from initiation through completion. The position also supports academic recruitment and onboarding, maintains personnel data and reports, develops procedures and training, and contributes to process improvements that advance the School of Medicine's academic mission.

Responsibilities

  • Independently administer and advise on complex academic appointments, recruitments, merits, promotions, compensation, faculty dossiers, visa-related employment matters, and Health Sciences Compensation Plan (HSCP) activities.
  • Interpret and apply University, Academic Personnel Office, School of Medicine, and collective bargaining policies to ensure compliance and resolve complex academic HR issues.
  • Partner with faculty, department leadership, and campus stakeholders to facilitate academic personnel actions and coordinate faculty recruitment processes.
  • Maintain academic personnel data and reporting, develop procedures and training, and recommend process improvements.
  • Provide expert consultation and operational leadership for a broad range of academic personnel functions.
  • Analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, and provide professional advice to senior officials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training; Master's degree preferred.
  • 4 - 7 years of related experience.
  • Previous related work experience in academic personnel at a UC Medical School.
  • Knowledge and experience working with UCR academic policies, procedures, and business systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies governing academic HR.
  • Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures, and practices that govern academic HR administration.
  • Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop solutions, and make critical decisions regarding personnel.
  • Working knowledge of academic personnel dossier preparation.
  • Advanced writing and proofreading skills for composing clear, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence, reports, and minutes.
  • Excellent oral communication skills to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Skill in organizing and maintaining effective record-keeping systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in academic planning, human resource management, and administration.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $75,900.00 - $137,300.00 annually, with an expected pay scale up to $106,600.00 annually. Salary offers are based on a variety of considerations, including education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position consisting of three days on-site at the UCR main campus and two days remote.
