Duties

  • Maintaining academic health and degree progression of assigned students.
  • Transcript review, enrollment tracking, and active outreach.
  • Building trustful relationships with assigned students.
  • Responding to communications via phone and email promptly.
  • Participating in institutional retention and completion initiatives.
  • Attending monthly PACAA meetings, councils, and committees.
  • Engaging in leadership or scholarly activities.
  • Fulfilling training and reporting obligations related to campus safety protocols.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Supervisor Duties

  • No supervisory duties.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 36 months of experience as a full-time Academic Advisor in higher education.

Department Preferences

  • A Master's degree in academic advising, higher education administration, student development, or counseling is preferred.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (may include some weekends).

Travel

  • Not required.

Primary Work Hours

All academic advisors at the University of Oklahoma have primary work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional evening/weekend work required with advanced notice.
