Responsibilities
- Assists various crews in maintaining and repairing areas within the City including storm drain systems, sanitary sewer lines, city streets, roadside ditches, rights-of-way, buildings, and facilities.
- Operates sewer cleaning equipment like power rodder, high velocity water jet, and sewer flusher to remove roots, debris, and other refuse from clogged sewer lines.
- Dispenses chemical solutions as per foreman/supervisor instructions and cleans tools, attachments, and equipment using appropriate cleaning solvents.
- Aids in engaging and disengaging equipment attachments.
- Lifts, climbs into, and cleans manholes and drainage facilities such as inlets and culverts using a rake, shovel, and wheelbarrow.
- Cuts and clears brush, weeds, and debris from work areas.
- Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment from trucks.
- Mixes concrete and utilizes an air hammer to dig and remove asphalt and concrete.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Three (3) months experience in construction and maintenance.
- Valid Class "B" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of-state) Commercial Driver's License required if assigned to General Services Park Operations Service Center.
- Compliance with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules as a condition of continued employment.
