Semiconductor Power Component Architect

Bosch is expanding its semiconductor business in the U.S., investing $1.9 billion in its Roseville, California site to produce silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors on 200-millimeter wafers starting in 2026.
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Power Component Architect (PCA) for our silicon carbide product release team in Roseville. In this role, you will work on innovative SiC product developments for automotive applications under tight timelines, collaborating with international experts. The PCA is central to the release process of bare-die and discrete SiC products, requiring coordination with stakeholders, technical performance communication, and adherence to formal procedures and documentation. The position involves significant data analysis, requiring a strong understanding of statistics and basic programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB). Post-release, you will provide product support, identify failure root causes, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage chip specifications for silicon carbide power devices, including data analysis, product and technology release processes, and stakeholder management.
- Coordinate sample planning and verification/validation testing during the engineering phase.
- Define series testing concepts to safeguard device performance over its lifetime during production.
- Support technical focus topics and establish/maintain engineering methods and structures.
- Analyze complex, multi-domain problems and develop structured, actionable architectural approaches.
- Conduct risk and trade-off analysis (e.g., performance vs. cost) to predict architectural risks.
- Provide product support post-series release, including failure root cause analysis and cross-functional collaboration for process improvement.
Requirements
- Completed university studies (Master's) in semiconductor device physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in statistical data analysis, applied statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Programming skills for data evaluation and analysis (e.g., Python or equivalent).
- Sound knowledge of semiconductor device physics and characterization; semiconductor manufacturing knowledge desirable.
- Relevant experience in power semiconductor development is a plus.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex problems into structured solutions.
- Capability to analyze technical trade-offs and predict architectural risks.
- Excellent technical documentation and verbal communication skills.
- Communicative team player with a willingness to collaborate across departments in an international environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
- Knowledge of power semiconductor manufacturing.
- Proficiency in German language (speaking, reading, writing) is a plus.
- Experience with electrical laboratory measurements and understanding of their challenges and limitations.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, with additional hours as needed.
- On-site role in Roseville, CA.
Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000–$115,000, determined by qualifications, experience, role complexity, and location. Individual pay within this range will be discussed during the interview process.
