About the role
The Assembler 2 is responsible for performing precision hand-soldering and assembly of small electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role requires strong manual dexterity, the ability to work with small components under a microscope, and the capability to follow detailed written instructions and SOPs.
Responsibilities
- Perform hand soldering of small electronic components on PCBs, including surface-mount, through-hole, and fine-pitch components.
- Utilize soldering equipment such as hot plates, soldering irons, and rework tools to assemble and touch up PCB assemblies.
- Read, understand, and follow written SOPs, work instructions, manufacturing travelers, and production documents.
- Inspect and verify PCB assemblies for solder quality, placement accuracy, and workmanship using microscopes and measuring tools.
- Identify and perform touch-up, repair, or rework of solder joints and PCB assemblies as needed.
- Complete manufacturing documentation accurately and in accordance with production requirements.
- Understand basic principles of PCB components, soldering processes, and electronic assembly techniques.
- Use computers and production-related software to log work, review documentation, and record data.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
Key Competencies & Skills
- Strong proficiency in hand soldering small, delicate components and sub-assemblies.
- Ability to work with microscopes for inspection and precision assembly.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions, SOPs, and basic assembly documentation.
- Basic understanding of PCB components, soldering principles, and electronic assembly processes.
- Familiarity with manufacturing travelers, work instructions, and production documentation requirements.
- Experience using computers and software tools related to manufacturing or production environments.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in hand soldering or electronic assembly.
- IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification (current or expired) preferred.
