About the Role

As a Selling and Support Captain, you are an advocate for the customer and a role model for your colleagues. You’ll drive results through promotional and Omni selling initiatives while communicating expectations and priorities to your team. This elevated hourly role offers advancement opportunities, including Personal Stylist or Sales and Customer Experience Manager.

Full-time colleagues typically work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues work 12-24 hours per week. Hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead colleagues in executing and completing assigned tasks, such as fulfilling customer orders, merchandising, processing new products, or supervising the selling floor.
  • Role model and provide feedback to improve customer experiences, ensuring high-level service through problem-solving and customer-focused resolutions.
  • Promote the Macy’s mobile app to enhance the in-store customer experience.
  • Meet with People Leaders to plan and monitor store activities, providing continuous feedback to drive a positive customer experience.
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including alarm system access and register settlement.
  • Maintain best-in-class merchandise standards and educate colleagues on point-of-sale technology, radio frequency equipment, and order fulfillment applications.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Requirements

  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with customers and providing clear direction to colleagues.
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly to changing customer expectations and needs.
  • Resourceful and able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • 1-2 years of direct retail experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
  • Ability to stand for at least two consecutive hours, lift at least 50 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.
  • Frequent reaching above eye level, including color vision.
  • Regular use of computers, handheld equipment, cash registers, and other technology to process transactions.
