Selis-Qlispe Language Apprentice

This position provides the time and support necessary for Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language Apprentice to become a speaker of the Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ language. The Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language Apprentice will go through the Selis? u Qlispe´ Nuwewls?tn curriculum series, developing the proficiency needed to be a future Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language teacher.

This intensive instruction includes a tightly designed sequence of a total of 6 books. The first year provides a one-year contract which consists of completion of 4 books with the opportunity for an additional one-year contract consisting of 2 final books to continue into the Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language program completing the curriculum series. (2nd year contract is based on performance evaluation, test scores, attendance and participation of first year).

Minimum Recruiting Qualifications

• High School diploma or Equivalent.
• Commitment to successfully complete the Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language - Adult Language Program.
• Long-term commitment to provide Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Language instruction.
• Excellent work ethic.
• Good study habits and self-discipline.
• Must have good communication and relationship skills.
• Understanding and appreciation for Se´lis?‑Ql?ispe´ Tribal cultures in order to work effectively with staff, family, and the community.
