Self-Perform Concrete Project Engineer

Responsibilities
- Aid in project management and construction supervision efforts.
- Manage and coordinate all submittal, shop drawings, cost control, reporting, and document control activities at the job site during the construction period.
- Avoid bid/quote discrepancies with market competitiveness.
- Assist in preparing estimates and takeoffs.
- Research and resolve issues related to drawings, specifications, and conflicts.
- Monitor and expedite submittals according to the project schedule and requirements.
- Update contract documents with change orders, architects supplemental instructions, etc.
- Maintain a tracking system for concrete materials and equipment.
- Compile and generate punch lists.
- Attend project meetings and oversee general correspondence.
- Manage the close-out process, including reviewing and verifying subcontractor extra work orders.
- Collaborate with contractors and Concrete Superintendents on job site logistics and schedules.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager or Superintendent.
Requirements
- Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent combination of related experience and technical training (1-4 years).
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the discipline.
- Related computer experience.
- Ability to assume responsibility and interface well with the Project Team.
- Possess strong communication and leadership skills.
- Setting goals, customer orientation, team orientation, process improvement, problem-solving, attention to detail, and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of construction management and scheduling software.
- Travel in and around Chicago and its suburbs.
Compensation
Salary Range: $65,000 - $105,000
