Job Location: 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, New York, United States of America, 14642

Full-time, 37.5 scheduled weekly hours. Rotating work shift.

Compensation range: $18.75 - $25.44 (first and last step pay rates per collective bargaining agreement).

Responsibilities

• Exercising courtesy, sound judgment, and initiative with patients and staff, escorts and transports patients to and from various clinical services and patient units.
• Delivers specimens, equipment, patient records, requisitions, patient mail, pharmaceuticals, and other items on a prescheduled or dispatched basis.
• Performs cleaning of equipment as directed.
• Sends and delivers carts on supply transport system and other related support duties.
• Transports new admissions, inpatients, and outpatients between units, x-ray, outpatient departments, Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Surgical Center, and various clinical services.
• Assists nursing staff in restraining disturbed patients, handling unusually heavy patients, and transporting deceased patients.
• Delivers supplies and equipment from the Equipment Center; transports and sets up equipment such as overhead frame and trapeze, and footboard.
• Distributes meals and snacks to patients under direction of nurse; makes beds and helps stock shelves with linen and other supplies.
• Performs duties as clothing room clerk.
• Assists in the instruction and training of new Transport Assistants.

Supervision and direction received: Under the direct supervision of Supervisor, Transportation Center. May be assigned to any area within the department and receives direct assignments from the supervisor of the assigned area.

Supervision and direction exercised: None.

Machines and equipment used: Wheelchairs, beds, stretchers, carts, supply transport system, and any equipment stocked in the Equipment Center.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift patients, supplies, and equipment.
