About the role
The Segment Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a key role responsible for working with external suppliers to develop robust processes and deliver high-quality parts. The Serial SQE is involved from the pre-qualification of the supplier through the successful launch of components, including verification of suppliers’ use of industry standards, Autoliv Standards, and review of production lines/practices. This role also involves follow-up on non-conforming materials and events to closure.
The SQE will collaborate with internal teams such as Project Launch, Purchasing, Engineering, and other Quality teams to plan quality events and resolve issues, as well as manage PPAP/PSW approvals for external suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier quality activities for new product development and launch programs.
- Manage APQP and PPAP processes to ensure supplier readiness and compliance.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers on feasibility reviews, quality planning, and component approvals.
- Monitor supplier performance, project milestones, and quality deliverables to meet launch timing requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits, production trials, Run-at-Rate events, and process assessments.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of supplier quality issues through 8D methodology.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, supplier requirements, and documentation processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, supplier development, and lessons learned implementation.
- Act as the primary quality contact for suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Travel to supplier locations as needed to support project and quality activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
- Automotive industry and/or engineering experience.
- Experience in deployment and/or auditing of APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, SPC, and VDA.
- Knowledgeable in IATF 16949 / VDA and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Experience in managing projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
