About Us

American Society of Community Benefits is a non-religious, non-political 501(c)(3) organization based in our local community. We exist to provide safe, supportive housing for individuals in crisis and to ensure that every person has access to the essential resources needed to rebuild their life with dignity. Our work is grounded in compassion, confidentiality, and judgment-free support.

We focus our housing program on individuals who are disproportionately affected by crisis, instability, and homelessness, including:

• Veterans
• Survivors of domestic abuse
• LGBTQ+ individuals
• Youth aging out of foster care

These groups often face barriers to safe housing, long-term stability, and community acceptance. We meet them where they are, with respect and care.

Our primary goal is supportive housing, but our commitment extends beyond shelter. We offer year-round assistance for anyone in need, including:

• Food support
• Clothing
• Medical expense assistance
• Tuition support

These services help stabilize individuals and families who are experiencing hardship, regardless of background or circumstance.

Community Engagement

We strengthen our community by organizing events that bring people together, reduce isolation, and create a sense of belonging. These gatherings help build trust, encourage connection, and support individuals who may feel unseen or unsupported.

About the Role

We are seeking board members to fill the roles of Treasurer and Vice President. Board members play a leadership role in governance, compliance, and fundraising to ensure the organization has a positive impact on the community. Responsibilities include overseeing committees and projects to help fulfill the nonprofit’s goals.

Responsibilities

• Attend monthly virtual board meetings (1 hour, PST time zone)
• Dedicate approximately 2 hours per month to community outreach
• Spend 1 hour per month on fundraising-related duties
• Contribute 1 hour per month to board meeting and event planning

Schedule

Board members are expected to commit approximately 5 hours per month, including a 1-hour virtual meeting and additional time for outreach, fundraising, and planning.
