About the role
This position plays a crucial role in our growing team, working closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure the successful design, installation, and commissioning of our security system solutions.
Responsibilities
- Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.
- Install, program, and commission access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems via laptop computers.
- Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
- Responsible for programming, commissioning, and final acceptance by customers, engineering forms and end users.
- Perform troubleshooting and enact effective resolution.
- Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
- Absorb responsibility for overseeing project and vehicle inventory.
- Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
- Communicate and coordinate with onsite contractors.
- Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.
- Knowledge of current security systems including access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems.
- Ability to program and commission mid-range security systems.
- Intermediate computer knowledge related to use, installation, and programming software.
- Independent ability to program the security system manufacturer’s product platform(s).
- Ability to terminate security control units and field equipment with minimal supervision.
- State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.
- Ability to read security system design drawings.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
- Proficient in issue resolution.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
- Able to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
