Security Systems Specialist

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States

About the Role

Leads the planning, implementation, and maintenance of security and emergency services workplace technology-based systems including security systems, emergency services, access control, and crisis management for Plant Spartanburg, Plant Woodruff, and BMW locations within South Carolina. Executes complex operational and technical projects ensuring long-term requirements of security and emergency management systems and planning. Acts as an interface with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain technology-based security and emergency management ecosystems.

Maintains the BMW security control centers within South Carolina. Coordinates with stakeholders to identify, deploy, and maintain effective security/emergency management IT systems and equipment. Serves as the subject matter expert for technical inquiries related to planning, implementation, maintenance, and compliance of all security and emergency management IT systems at BMW facilities within South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Align standard operating procedures with the global network of workplace systems and BMW Group strategy.
• Steer service request fulfillment for operational projects and coordinate non-standard requests.
• Lead escalation management of unresolved, singular incidents or service requests after end-user escalation.
• Organize physical access management for providers in relevant IT applications.
• Provide event, access, incident, and problem management as well as service request fulfillment for non-standard solutions.
• Run complex projects pertaining to security systems ensuring they are completed on time and within budget with only general direction from management.
• Monitor reports to ensure service level agreements (SLA) are met and all processes are followed as necessary.
• Recommend and facilitate quality improvement efforts.
• Serve as an IT project manager for small-medium sized projects, oversee resources assigned, conduct status meetings, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
• Consult with internal customers and external specialist agencies (e.g., architectural, engineering, IT).
• Coordinate commissioning and decommissioning of security and emergency management IT systems in conjunction with business partners.
• Create process instructions to standardize end-user knowledge of security and emergency management systems to minimize risk of operational failure.
• Support the sustainability and operational status of plant facilities technology systems during a crisis.
• Maintain Crisis Management equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
• Oversee Security Control Center processes, systems, technology, hardware, and software to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain the Security and Emergency Response communication system for the security and emergency services team.
• Provide budgetary input for maintenance and lifecycle replacement of Security and Emergency Response Systems.
• Update firmware on security systems including camera systems, security control center equipment, and communication equipment.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in crisis management, crisis management IT equipment, and crisis communication systems.
• Assist during emergency incidents including emergency management, emergency response, and communications.
• Business travel as required to perform job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• MS/MA/MPS degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Information Technology, Communication Systems, Strategic Planning, or related field (Preferred) OR
• BA/BS degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field OR
• AA/AS degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field AND 2 years of professional experience in information technology OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent AND 4 years of professional experience in information technology or related field.
• 5+ years of professional IT project management experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience with security systems such as video management systems, alarm systems, communications systems, incident command, or related fields.
• 3+ years of technical experience in computer infrastructure in software, hardware, and related processes in an operational production environment.
• 3+ years of oral and written IT communication techniques experience.
• 3+ years of experience in security/emergency management.
• 2+ years of Security Control Center / Emergency Communications Center oversight experience.
• Valid Driver’s License and eligible to participate in the BMW MC vehicle program.
• 5+ years of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Access).
• 5+ years of professional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
• 3+ years of experience working with external service providers.
• 3+ years of problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR/AED Certified.
• FEMA Incident Command ICS 300 and 400 level.
• FEMA Emergency Management ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
• 1+ years of working knowledge of BMW Group Incident Management Tools (ITSM, SMDB).
• 1+ years of working knowledge of BMW IT Component Lifecycle management.
