Security Specialist

About the role

Market of Choice is seeking a full-time Security Specialist. Market of Choice is a growing, local company with excellent benefits and opportunities for professional development. This position will join our Market of Choice Loss Prevention Team. As a Security Specialist, the ideal candidate will be familiar with the operations/implementation of general security functions, will have previous customer service experience and will focus on employee and customer safety.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visual deterrent for criminal activity in the store
• Partner with Store Management to determine the safest approach in dealing with criminal activity or disruptions in the business
• Have the ability to de-escalate tense confrontations through the use of superior customer service
• Observe and report unsafe activities and conditions
• Help create a pleasant in-store atmosphere for our customers
• Implement store policies and keep secure records
• Perform tasks as directed by the Loss Prevention department

Qualifications

• Valid OR driver's license and reliable transportation
• Professional, courteous, and calm attitude
• Excellent observation and planning skills
• Ability to think clearly under pressure
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic knowledge of local & state laws
• 18 years or older

Skills

• Proficiency using MS Office
• Preference given to applicants with previous experience in security
• Availability for weekends, after hours, and occasional out‑of‑town and overnight work
