Security Software Developer, AWS Security Operational Research

About the role

Join us and help build and scale security across the largest global cloud provider. Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers demand the highest quality and reliability for their services. We continually look for ways to invent and simplify as we scale AWS security alongside a rapidly expanding platform, applying automation and agentic systems to drive complex security problems to resolution.

Key job responsibilities

• You design entire service pieces or cross-org architecture.
• You own team-level technical architecture, lead multi-engineer projects with clear delegation, and produce design documents that guide related teams.
• You make strategic technical decisions considering long-term evolution, not just immediate delivery, and you enable the team through architectural clarity and technical frameworks.

How you work

• Design solutions under multiple conflicting constraints.
• Lead multi-engineer projects (you architect, others implement).
• Produce written artifacts — design docs, API specs — that enable parallel work.
• Make strategic technical decisions with long-term impact.
• Build consensus across teams on contentious technical topics.
