About the role

Responsible for the shift operation of the Security department activities and personnel. Oversees the safety, security, and assistance of team members, guests, and company assets during the assigned shift. Monitors security personnel to ensure compliance with department and company policies. Schedules, evaluates, and supervises subordinate personnel, including assigning work, approving overtime, and recommending wage increases or promotions. All Security officers report to the Security Shift Manager, who reports to the Security Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the safety and security of all customers, team members, and company assets during the assigned shift.
  • Monitors the activities of all security personnel to ensure compliance with department and property policies and procedures.
  • Promotes a working environment where subordinate personnel can perform duties within established guidelines, procedures, and laws.
  • Ensures confidential treatment of all relevant information.
  • Provides clear, concise incident reports, daily logs, and documentation for shift activities and incidents.
  • Investigates and follows up on all shift reports and activities.
  • Promotes effective communication between staff and management regarding property activities.
  • Performs duties of a subordinate as required.
  • Responds to, evaluates, and provides first aid in medical crises for guests and team members, notifying emergency medical services as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between law enforcement and casino management.
  • Conducts emergency drills within the security department.
  • Ensures completion of payroll, timekeeping records, and verifies time sheets for all security officers on the shift.
  • Provides support and guidance to all casino departments and personnel as needed.
  • Mediates and solves problems for employees and guests, maintaining effective lines of communication.
  • Identifies operational and organizational opportunities and collaborates with upper management to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Attends all mandatory company training classes.
  • Manages key control and inventory for all sensitive keys, including operation of the Keywatcher system.
  • Controls access and manages team member entries/removals in the Keywatcher system.
  • Maintains a complete understanding and operation of the SAFLOK program, ensuring all programmed locks are operational.
  • Replaces damaged keys and ensures accuracy of inventory and logs in the spare key box.
  • Verifies shipments and inventory of cards, dice, and chips.
  • Ensures proper key, card, and dice destruction.
  • Logs and accounts for all visitors, vendors, and contractors on the property.
  • Oversees shuttle operations in the absence of the Transportation Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing from the Maine Gaming Commission.
  • Demonstrated security enforcement ability with investigative skills and experience.
  • Ability to write legibly and coherently, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Previous Security Officer/Dual Rate Supervisory experience required.
  • Complete understanding of gaming laws, state regulations, internal controls, departmental policies, and procedures.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict and provide conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Requires physical exertion, including standing and walking for extended periods, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs and push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 300 lbs.
  • May need to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Possible exposure to prolonged loud noise and close quarters.
  • Ability to maintain composure during difficult or emergency situations.
  • May require exposure to extreme weather conditions.
