Troubleshooting and Repair
- Troubleshoot and repair security systems including analog, IP, addressable, and networked solutions.
- Program and maintain intermediate equipment and systems including intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset protection, environmental detection, holdup/duress, integrated systems and equipment related to the alarm monitoring station.
- Use a variety of troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
- Produce repair reports in accordance with best practices for customer acceptance and billing information.
- Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
- Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
- Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.
- Assist in the oversight of project and vehicle inventory.
- Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
- Take ownership of onsite projects including safety, quality, and performance.
- Train and develop other Service Technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support to end users and technicians when required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.
- Knowledge of current security systems including access control, IP video, and voice and data systems.
- Intermediate understanding of security system integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.
- Independent ability to program multiple manufacturer's advanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems.
- Ability to program and troubleshoot mid-range to complex security systems.
- Ability to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain how it is to be used, and how to respond to any system signals.
- Intermediate knowledge of NPFA 70 and 731 for testing and maintenance of security systems.
- State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.
- Knowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements.
- Ability to read fire and security system design drawings.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
- Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
- Proficient in issue resolution.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
- Able to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
