Security Sergeant

About the Role

Provide supervision and leadership to security personnel engaged in security services for all Gaming Division buildings, parking lots, designated tribal buildings, and events in accordance with established security policies and procedures. Ensure public safety and security by enforcing laws, ordinances, Tribal and gaming policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security team and improve staff effectiveness by counseling, training, and administering disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
• Conduct and oversee on-the-job field training for new security personnel.
• Monitor and complete payroll reports; review vacation/personal time requests.
• Complete and/or ensure reports are done as needed; verify all reports completed by staff are thorough, accurate, and credible.
• Implement and participate in staff development and training programs.
• Assist security investigators and staff during investigations of gaming violations and other related security issues.
• Control emergency building situations, including evacuation or shutdown due to imminent danger or severe weather.
• Assume all duties of Security Officers and Corporals as needed.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, classes, and conferences.
• Work with security computers using software such as CIMS, MS Word, MS Excel, and OnBase.
• Initiate internal investigations with proper interviewing techniques.
• Ensure excellent customer service is consistently provided by security staff.
• Account for and ensure the working order of all security equipment, including radios, flashlights, and vehicles.
• Ensure employees adhere to tribal, departmental, and gaming policies; report violations.
• Observe, identify, report, and respond to potential criminal and suspicious activities.
• Collaborate with Oneida Police and other law enforcement agencies on investigations.
• Perform First Aid, AED, and CPR in crisis situations.
• Adhere to Tribal Personnel Policies, Law Enforcement Ordinance, Gaming Standard Operating Procedures, and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of security operations, principles, and practices, including investigation, patrol, communications, and crime prevention.
• Skill in establishing effective working relationships with law enforcement agencies, staff, tribal officials, and the public.
• Ability to interpret ordinances, regulations, and standards.
• Ability to provide leadership, evaluate staff, and facilitate meetings/trainings.
• Proficiency in preparing accurate reports and presenting information verbally.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
• Must demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, and fairness.
• Ability to respond professionally to emergency situations.
• Must adhere to strict confidentiality.
• Willingness to obtain additional education and training.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma, HSED, or GED required within one year (exempt for applicants 50+).
• Three years of security experience; one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Must complete required training programs: Basic Security Officer Training, Medical Response Training (CPR, First Aid, AED), Emergency Response Training, Defense and Arrest Tactics, and Field Training.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must adhere to the Nation’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
• Must obtain a Gaming License from the Oneida Gaming Commission.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance required.
• Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days if out-of-state.
• Must meet Oneida Nation’s Vehicle Driver Certification requirements.
• TB Screening or 2-step TB Skin Test required within 30 days of employment.

Pay

$21.13/hr (Negotiable - Depending on Experience)

Schedule

Shift Differential:

• Monday-Thursday (6pm to 6am): + $1.00/hour
• Friday 4pm to Saturday 4am: + $3.00/hour
• Saturday (4am to 4pm): + $2.00/hour
• Saturday (4pm to 4am): + $3.00/hour
• Sunday 4am to Monday 6am: + $2.00/hour

Full-time position.
