About the Role

The Security Scientist role is centered on enhancing the safety and security of the organization’s products, platforms, and IT systems. This position involves leveraging data analysis to identify security risks, driving projects to mitigate those risks, and partnering cross‑functionally to improve systemic security. The role contributes significantly to delivering a secure product experience to users and supporting security operations including incident response and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across teams to address security and anti‑abuse challenges
• Analyze attacker and user behavior through data creation and experimentation
• Build and refine detection mechanisms to improve security coverage
• Lead and support security investigations and incident scoping
• Apply threat intelligence to prioritize detection and harden systems
• Conduct security investigations and design reviews for attack vector identification
• Promote security best practices throughout the organization

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of security, anti‑abuse, detection, and response challenges
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or R
• Experience with distributed data processing tools like Hive, Redshift, Presto, Snowflake, or Spark
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and experimental design
• Excellent judgment and problem‑solving skills

Pay

• Annual base salary range: $140,000 — $348,000 USD
