About The Role

ACPWB is seeking a Security Operations Analyst to help the Business Intelligence team scale the compensation survey processing system to meet growing demand from the advisory practice. You will work in Terraform and AWS, contribute to application development and maintenance initiatives, and collaborate with a team of 19 who take engineering craft seriously and treat technical debt as a real liability. The Security Operations Analyst is responsible for the technical infrastructure that makes ACPWB's analytical work possible.

The Business Intelligence team of 19 builds and maintains the compensation survey processing system that powers our advisory practice, and this role is central to ensuring that infrastructure is reliable, secure, and scalable. Our analytical staff depends on this work. So do our clients, indirectly. You will know both are counting on you.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce data quality standards and develop automated validation and monitoring for data pipelines
  • Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning for the compensation survey processing system to support firm growth
  • Design, build, and maintain components of the compensation survey processing system using Terraform and AWS
  • Build internal tooling to improve analyst productivity and data access across the firm
  • Develop and maintain BI dashboards and analytical reports for internal stakeholders using Terraform and AWS
  • Contribute to ACPWB's technical roadmap by identifying investment opportunities in application development and maintenance
  • Manage vendor relationships for technical services and software subscriptions relevant to application development and maintenance

Qualifications

Required

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and VPN
  • Experience with ETL or data pipeline development and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, tested, maintainable code with attention to documentation
  • Experience working in an Agile or iterative development environment
  • 1+ years of experience managing or contributing to production systems with reliability requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to diagnose issues under time pressure

Preferred

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Background in application security including OWASP principles and secure development practices
  • Experience with feature flagging, A/B testing infrastructure, or progressive deployment patterns

Why ACPWB

At ACPWB, you will work alongside people who read proxy statements as a leisure activity, who have opinions about SEC rulemaking, and who can explain the history of executive pay in America over dinner without anyone reaching for their phone. If that sounds like your people, it probably is.

ACPWB was founded in Milwaukee in 2006 with a simple mandate: help working Americans understand and advocate for the compensation they deserve. Eighteen years later, that mandate has grown into a full-service research and advisory practice serving clients from early-stage employers to Fortune 50 enterprises — and we are still based in Milwaukee, because Milwaukee is genuinely underrated.

Interview Process

Our process has four stages: a 30-minute talent screen, a 60-minute hiring manager interview, a 90-minute cross-functional panel, and a final conversation with a senior leader. We aim to complete the process in two to three weeks. We communicate outcomes at each stage, including outcomes that are not what you hoped for.

What Success Looks Like In Year One

  • Establish your own development environment, testing practices, and review standards consistent with team norms
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of the compensation survey processing system architecture, data flows, and dependencies
  • Reduce at least one identified pain point for the analytical team through tooling or infrastructure improvement
