Security Officer (Temporary/On-Call)

Responsibilities

• Regular assigned patrol duties either on foot, bike or motor vehicle.
• Enforcement of vehicular traffic and parking regulations.
• Patrol buildings and grounds for security, safety, and order.
• Report hazardous conditions and potential fire problems.
• Provide emergency assistance and protection as needed.
• Assist guests, students, employees, and community members as requested or authorized.
• Respond to campus fire calls, medical emergencies, traffic incidents, breaches of security, and calls for assistance.
• Investigate and report traffic accidents to proper authorities.
• Provide traffic and crowd control duties at campus events.
• Attend all required department meetings and training sessions.
• Testify as required in judicial proceedings.
• Prepare and maintain accurate departmental reports and records.
• Supervise student officers.
• Maintain uniform and equipment according to departmental regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College degree preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Completion of college defensive driving program.
• Criminal background investigation required.
• General good health and ability to perform prolonged physical activities.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and maintain authority.
• Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board/CPR Certification desired.
• Discretion and confidentiality expected.
• Computer proficiency to utilize email and basic tasks.
