Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Write reports of any irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the locations of all departments, buildings, and access routes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the operation of the camera system, fire alarm, portable radios, and other equipment as deemed necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of Mid-Pacific Institute's emergency response plans and respond accordingly to any emergency or unusual situation.
- Check vehicles in school parking lots for authorized parking decals. Issue parking violation warnings and tags when necessary.
- Warn and enforce persons for infractions or violations, escort violators from premises, and call appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Call emergency first responders (i.e., police, fire, ambulance) in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
- Maintain a log of all found property turned over to Security. Log and track found property until final disposition.
- Communicate emergency, safety, suspicious, criminal activities to the appropriate administrator or supervisor promptly.
- Communicate verbally and in writing (log sheet) regarding incidents occurring during the shift.
- Prepare and distribute reports to Deans, Principals, and President, as needed.
- Inventory and requisition supplies (parking passes, locks).
- Navigate school websites for students and other information.
- Log retrieve, and store lost and found items from campus grounds.
- Monitor email accounts daily.
- May need to carry a business mobile phone during on-duty hours to respond to student and faculty needs.
- Coordinate and distribute student parking sign-ups, and decals, prepared documents, email students, and collect payments.
- Drive injured students to class or other required locations in the golf cart.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the deans, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Damon Hall staff.

- Comply with the instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Report any injury, hazard or illness immediately, to their Supervisor and Human Resources.
- Identify, assess if necessary, and control hazards within area of responsibility.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws.
- Mandatory reporting of sexual abuse to law enforcement or child protective services, and Human Resources.

Qualifications
- Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, text, computer and other related technology, email, public address system, or in person.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required for the position and must be obtained in the initial probationary period.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate information to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Strong interpersonal skills including staff, faculty, and community/customer relations.
- Valid Hawaii Driver's License and clean traffic abstract.

- Must clear the drug screening, physical, and fingerprint/background check requirements.

Work Schedule
- Full-time
- Student Services Security Officers are regularly scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Schedule assignments may change to meet the security needs of the campus.
Education and Experience
- A high school degree.
- Prior experience as a security officer, police officer, or Military Police preferred.
Physical Demands
- Spend long periods of time standing and walking.
- Frequently stand throughout the day and at times for extended periods of time; sit in a normal seated position reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction throughout the day and at times for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to run in the event of an emergency situation.
- Respond and/or act quickly to urgent calls by foot/cart.
- Occasionally bend, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with the whole hand(s) or arm(s).
- Must be able to open and secure numerous doors with the use of keys, latches and other security devices.
- See and hear within normal parameters and possess the ability to move about with little to no difficulty.
- Must be able to hear and respond to portable two-way radio, telephone, and alarm or other security systems.
Mental Demands
- On a daily basis must frequently problem solve, make timely and proper emergency decisions, interpret data, organize, speak, resolve conflicts, write, plan, and clearly communicate.
EQUIPMENT USE
- Telephone, fire alarm panels, camera surveillance systems, computers, printers, two-way radio, golf cart or another vehicle, well versed with computers, and operating different systems.
