About the role

This position is responsible for providing security for patients, employees, and visitors; protecting Hospital buildings, assets, and patrolling interior and exterior premises as assigned.

Under the general direction of the Facilities/Security Director, and law enforcement liaison, this position is responsible for:

  • Providing security for patients, employees, and visitors;
  • Protecting Hospital buildings, assets, and patrolling interior and exterior premises as assigned;
  • Assists in intervening in physical confrontations with violent persons;
  • Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations;
  • Escorts personnel to parking lots and Hospital buildings when requested;
  • Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities;
  • Responds to scene and provides necessary controls involving disasters, fires, alarms, codes, or emergency incidents and their associated drills;
  • Inspects and ascertains ownership of property being removed from campus;
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of City, State and Federal laws, ordinances, and regulations, and their functional process;
  • Utilizes all equipment in the Department effectively and safely with ability to train and supervise others in the use of this equipment;
  • Incident Reports and fulfill position responsibilities;
  • Maintains own professional growth through appropriate organizations, workshops, seminars, and other educational endeavors;
  • Actively participates in Hospital and Departmental committees and group meetings with a focus on providing input regarding improving the quality of services in the facility;
  • Ensures that problems or concerns regarding the Security Department and other related areas are communicated with the Facility/Security Director.

Requirements

Required:

  • Have met the certification standards set forth by the State requirements as it pertains to the use of authorized equipment;
  • Maintain requirements minimum of 40 hours of continuing education every 24 months.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Minimum of one year experience as a security/law enforcement position in a healthcare environment or a military medical field.

Utilizes all equipment in the Department effectively and safely with ability to train and supervise others in the use of this equipment;
