Security Officer - Public Resource Center

About the role

Join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a renowned public cultural location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help deter security-related incidents, and support access awareness with strong customer service and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, patrons, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting concerns to site leadership when needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the library location, including reading areas, entrances, exits, hallways, and perimeter spaces, to help to deter unwanted activity.
• Monitor access points and public areas, assist with directional information, and address policy-related concerns in a professional and respectful manner.
• Support a welcoming environment by observing activity, reporting maintenance or facility concerns, and assisting with security-related responses during opening, closing, and high-traffic periods.

Requirements

• A valid New York State Security Guard License is required.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
