About the role

As a Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer at a manufacturing and industrial location in Newport News, VA, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents. You will support access control activities, communicate professionally with employees and visitors, and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and employees by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of production areas, repair and fabrication workspaces, parking areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter locations to identify and report unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorized entry as directed by site policies, and maintain accurate logs and documentation.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and following established post instructions.
• Observe and report hazards, equipment concerns, property damage, and suspicious activity to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

Requirements

• At least one year of security-related experience is required.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
