About the role
The Security Officer at French Hospital Medical Center is responsible for monitoring buildings and grounds to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and visitors. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the property by walking and driving around the premises.
- Guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, and protecting against acts of violence.
- Responding to calls for assistance, including incidents involving violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes, and emergency codes.
- Patrolling the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; dispatching officers to locations as needed; and reporting unsafe acts or conditions.
Responsibilities
To be successful, the Security Officer must:
- Remain calm and take appropriate action based on the situation.
- Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including radios and hospital codes.
- Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and write incident reports.
- Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers.
- Keep the organization’s mission, vision, and values at the forefront of all decisions.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED upon hire.
- Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, law enforcement, or military service, or one (1) year experience as a Security Officer.
- Security Guard license in CA, within 30 days.
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 days.
- Driver’s License in CA, within 30 days.
- No DMV moving violations within 30 days.
Qualifications
- Ability to remain calm and take action based on the situation.
- Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to use appropriate emergency and radio codes.
- Experience in maintaining the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Pay
The posted compensation range is $24.99 - $29.27 /hour, which is a reasonable estimate based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit Health may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Schedule
The Security Officer works a rotating schedule of 64 hours per week, specifically Friday - Monday, from 11:00 PM to 07:30 AM.
