Security Officer II - Full Time - Nights - Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, NJ

About the role

An AH Security Officer II ensures a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors across all AH facilities. This role supervises Security Officers, monitors premises, prevents unauthorized access, responds to emergencies, and enforces safety and security policies. The Security Officer II may also assist with Corporate Investigations.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to deter and detect criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and unauthorized access.
• Maintain security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance equipment to ensure the safety of the premises.
• Secure entrances, exits, and restricted areas to prevent breaches or theft.
• Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic as needed.
• Respond promptly to disturbances, medical events, fire alarms, missing children, and active shooter situations.
• Provide leadership during active shooter situations and disaster/emergency situations.
• Verify visitor and vendor identities, enforce hospital policies, and issue/manage badges.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain logs of daily activities.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, law enforcement, and emergency services.
• Participate in training programs and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Relevant security, law enforcement, or military experience strongly preferred, especially for corporate investigations.
