Security Officer I - Swing Shift

We are looking for a Security Officer to join our team, ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests while providing exceptional customer service. This role involves patrolling, observing, and monitoring the Museum, reporting irregularities, and working closely with the Denver Police Department, museum staff, and guests. Additional training and future opportunities to expand your knowledge and duties within the Security Department are available.

Responsibilities

• Observes, patrols, monitors, and controls access for the entire Museum facility complex.
• Reports safety and security discrepancies.
• Dispatches officers and coordinates emergency response.
• Monitors software, CCTV, and fire panels.
• Immediately responds to and assists in the coordination of emergency incidents.
• Communicates appropriate information to guests and staff during situations.
• Maintains a balance of customer service, legal behavior, and adherence to procedures while enforcing museum rules and policies.
• Maintains required training certifications in First Aid and CPR annually.
• Provides special escorts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in security, military, or equivalent related service required.
• Current driver’s license with a clean driving record, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to comply with requirements for Denver Security License within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions

• Moderate office noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
• Medium physical effort required: handling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Must remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) 80% of the time.
• Ability to walk 6-8 miles per day to patrol the Museum and property.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather as needed.
• Ability to assist individuals in wheelchairs or relocate injured parties to safer areas.
• Ability to climb ladders and investigate issues in emergencies.
• May need to detain suspects for police apprehension.

Pay

$21.00 per hour, plus an additional shift differential of $0.75 per hour.

Schedule

Swing Shift: 4 PM – Midnight
