Security Officer Government Office

Job Description

Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or members of the public by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government services location.

Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and document observations and actions in accordance with site protocols.

Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the building, public areas, offices, entrances, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.

Monitor access points, verify identification and/or visitor credentials as required, and report suspicious behavior, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to site contacts and/or supervisors.

Support an orderly environment by providing directions, assisting with crowd and lobby flow during busy periods, and communicating professionally with employees, visitors, and partner agencies.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
