Security Officer Full Time Visitor Screening

As a Security Officer (Full‑Time Visitor Screening) in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as aerospace and defense. You will manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and report security‑related concerns while maintaining a visible, professional presence that deters incidents and delivers exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by carrying out access control procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at an aerospace and defense location.
• Monitor and control entry and exit points, verify credentials, maintain visitor records, and direct authorized personnel, contractors, and visitors in accordance with established access requirements.
• Respond to access‑related incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of designated access points, restricted areas, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required logs for access activity, incidents, and security‑related observations.

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Applicants with criminal histories will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
