About the role

Provide an observable deterrent to criminal activity within their span of control.

Responsibilities

  • Provide designated escort activities related to the protection of patrons, employees, and Hoosier Park property.
  • Observe and report violations relative to regulatory, internal control, or company-sponsored policies and procedures.
  • Provide professional interaction and cooperation with internal (various departments) and external (law enforcement agencies) relative to their span of control.
  • Provide written documentation of incidents and events, observed or reported, upon request.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, internal control, and company-sponsored policies and procedures.
  • Provide an informational resource for patrons and employees related to locations and activities scheduled on the property.
  • Assume a leadership role in employee and guest relations, and professional appearance.
  • Complete ingress and egress log entries, accident/incident reports, jackpot documentation, lost and found reports, and dispatch logs.
  • Remain alert to issues within their field of observation that may require a security presence and support this focus with continuous patrol activities.
  • Perform escort duties consistent with Internal Control Regulations and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist the Indiana Gaming Agents and other Law Enforcement Agencies as requested, including but not limited to assisting with arrest and detention functions.
  • Interact with various external departments including applicable notification protocols within established compliance directives.
  • Conduct and initiate corrective action relative to crowd control issues with a focus on patron/employee safety, with heightened awareness during emergencies, drills, and special events.
  • Complete accident and incident reports that accurately reflect the events, participants, location, and time of events involving patrons, employees, property, and assets of Hoosier Park Casino in a concise and professional format.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, internal control, and company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of activities and events scheduled on the property.
  • Provide a leadership role in guest and employee relations that require security intervention.
  • Present a consistent appearance that demonstrates personal pride, Hoosier Park Casino, and the Security Department.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months or more related security-type experience and training, or a combination of education and security experience/training.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written communication with the ability to read and comprehend written instructions, directions, correspondence, and memos.
  • The ability to write reports, fill out forms, and statements in detail and clarity.
  • The ability to verbally present information to patrons, clients, supervisors, and employees in a clear, professional, and effective manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and be able to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply and use common sense in carrying out instructions and directions given in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • The ability to deal with problems involving variables or standard situations among patrons and/or employees.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to push/pull or lift up to 10 pounds regularly and frequently push/pull or lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; to climb or balance; and to stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period; frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, Indiana Horse Racing Commission, and possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license.
  • First Aid Training certification; some Security Officer positions require Indiana State Police certification and other certifications that may be needed for this position.
  • Will require access to all general and secure/sensitive areas of the gaming facility and back-of-house areas, as well as access to patron information, investigation information, and internal controls for the Racing and Gaming facilities.
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment.
  • Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.
  • Responsible for fostering a fun environment and being gracious to all guests and co-workers.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events while enthusiastically supporting, actively promoting, and demonstrating superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Ensures that behavior and appearance comply with established standards.
