Job Description As a Security Officer Full Time Controlled Entry in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As an Access Control Officer, you will help support a welcoming campus environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access credentials, and responding to security-related concerns. You will provide exceptional customer service and clear communication while helping to deter incidents through a visible presence. Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and access points; verify credentials and authorize entry in accordance with established campus procedures.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document activities as required.
• Maintain awareness of activity at assigned locations, report suspicious or unauthorized activity, and help to deter unauthorized access.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, access points, and surrounding areas as directed; working environments and conditions may vary by location.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
