Security Officer Family Housing Facility

About the role

As a New York State Licensed Patrol Security Officer in East Elmhurst, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as shelters. You will conduct routine patrols, monitor assigned areas, support access control, and maintain a visible presence to deter incidents. This role involves providing exceptional customer service and clear communication while fostering a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, and problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout the facility, entrances, common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures, and report unauthorized persons or unusual activity to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation related to patrols, observations, and security-related events.

Requirements

• A New York State Security Guard License is required.
• Access control/badge experience is preferred.
• At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Pay

$18.87 per hour.
