About the role
This Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced position is a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands-on experience, or work toward a full-time career. As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol Surveillance in Los Angeles, CA, you’ll have a fixed base schedule with the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts.
- Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
- Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours one week and full-time the next—it’s up to you.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week, with the option to scale back when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and/or drivers by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control requirements, and emergency response activities at a chemical and petrochemical location.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, process areas, parking areas, gates, perimeter locations, and other assigned areas; report unusual conditions, hazards, and maintenance concerns according to site procedures.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials as required, maintain visitor and contractor logs, and assist with controlling entry and exit in accordance with established site policies.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document observations, actions taken, and incident details.
- Maintain awareness of site-specific emergency procedures, including evacuation, shelter-in-place, spill, fire, and medical-response protocols, and provide support as directed.
Requirements
- Possess at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
- Loss prevention experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
